Big Tings Dropping | Pt.1

The last week I displayed the basics of the illustration & screenprint process and there was a great response and feedback on the topic so we thought you would enjoy a look at the upcoming Ok Zebra crewnecks!! In Part 1 I’ll give you a closer look at the technical aspect of creating a design from pencil to pixels.
Step 1 – With so much surrounding inspirations, it can sometimes take several days to narrow an idea down to a final sketch. The picture below illustrates different levels of refinement including notebook sketch, workable concept, custom textures and extra details.
Step 2 – Once the illustrations have been outlined in black, you can then import them in a vector* editing program and begin plotting each line to ensure a crisp result. The picture shows the custom texture that I created for the design being meshed with a selected font and turned into a vintage 3-D wordmark.
* Vector – Unlike pixel based images/photographs, vectors may be resized at any size while keeping their sharpness.
Step 3 – At this point, all the last details and tweaks are cleaned up and finished. Again, this process can take several days due to the fact of “sitting” on the design to ensure you feel confident with the final piece. Sometimes this can be beneficial to visualise the finished product in other possible variations before jumping to the final print.
Step 4 – Once you feel the design is exactly what you envisioned and more, you’ve completed the on screen portion!
Step 5 – Mock the design and start looking forward to that fresh new crewneck! Drop us a line to get yourself one of these limited crewnecks before they hit the stores.

This is the first interactive snowboard edit I’ve ever seen! Although a little slow to load, the idea that you can choose your destiny shows great potential for future videos. Think Goosebumps, strapped in.
Allow the video to load before playing.
Marco Tempest: The magic of truth and lies

The visual part of this TED talk is extremely creative; but even without any video, the thought behind the meaning of the five minute show really makes you think. The word “ART”, which differs to many, may be better described as “magic”? Evoking emotions different in each person, while leaving everyone in wonder.

The Knight XV

If you’re in the market for a new vehicle maybe the Knight XV will suit your needs, if your needs involve driving a V10, 6.8L, ultra-luxurious, handcrafted fully armored SUV! I’m personally more into the the smaller compact cars, but if you’re going to be driving in the H.O.V lane, you might as well do it in style. Check the Knight XV’s website if you’re interested in purchasing one of 100 of these beauties.

The Wu have always been inspirational to Ok Zebra from our early beginnings with the CREAM tee. So it’s no brainer that when the one and only Bobby Digital collaborates with WESC it can only mean greatness. Take a look and listen, these headphones are guaranteed to be ill. If that isn’t enough Wu for you, peep Coffee and Cigs with Bill Bill Murray for some serious delirium!
